Loving You Barbie could be considered a Valentine’s Day doll. To see other Valentine’s Day dolls, click here. Loving You Barbie is easily confused with the later release, Pretty Hearts Barbie.
Loving You Barbie was used by Mattel to create the 1984 Barbie National Convention doll (the location/theme for the year was New York, “Big Apple”). The doll and box are the same for the convention release, but the fashion is swapped for an original outfit and a convention sash. The outfit is a re-colored version of the Silver Sensation dress (the convention version is red instead of the usual pink). The doll was designed by Kitty Black Perkins (a Mattel designer) and many of them have been signed by her. This convention doll was limited to 250 pieces. To see other Convention dolls, click here.
