These dolls were released at the 1992 Barbie National Convention, which took place in Niahara Falls, New York with the theme “Barbie Wedding Dreams.” Mattel provided Benetton Barbie to attendees (with a sticker on it to make it special, it is otherwise distinguishable from the regular issue #4873 doll). The hosting Barbie club provided the #1623 Dream Bride Barbie redressed in a special wedding gown with a convention sticker on the box.
